Application examples for external inputs of the Smart programmable timer premium
The Smart programmable timer premium has two configurable inputs E1 and E2 (230 V / 50 Hz) for connecting external signal transmitters (e.g. blind switches / environmental sensors etc.).
The following configurations are possible:
[ 0 ] Off
[ 1 ] UP (shutter mode)
[ 2 ] DOWN (shutter mode)
[ 3 ] UP (shutter mode)
[ 4 ] DOWN (shutter mode)
[ 5 ] UP / Stop / Down
[ 6 ] Switch automatic mode on/off (NO contact, NO)
[ 7 ] Switch automatic mode on/off (NC contact, NC)
[ 8 ] External wind signal, NO
[ 9 ] External rain signal, NO
NOTE
If manual mode is active, the inputs are not taken into account (except for the wind function).
Both inputs are configured independently of each other.
In the factory, both external inputs are set to 0; accordingly, the external
buttons have no function.
Application 1:
Control for tubular motors:
Select under menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 = 1 UP
for input 2 = 2 DOWN
Blind push-buttons (recommended) or switches can be used for control. When the
button is pressed briefly, the Smart programmable timer premium switches to self-holding and moves the roller shutter completely UP or DOWN. A further push-button command during the movement stops the motor.
Application 2:
Control for external venetian blinds:
Select under menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 = 3 UP (blind mode)
for input 2 = 4 DOWN (blind mode)
Blind push-buttons must be used for control. If the push-button is pressed briefly,
the Smart programmable timer premium only switches briefly in order to be able to tilt the slats of the external venetian blind. This jog function enables convenient adjustment of the external venetian blinds. If the button is held for more than 2 seconds, the timer switches to self-holding and moves the blind completely UP or DOWN. A further push-button command during the movement stops the motor.
Application 3:
UP / Stop / Down:
Select under the menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 or 2 = 5 UP / Stop / Down
With this application you can operate the roller shutter with a single-pole push-button. The
switching sequence is UP / Stop / Down / Stop / Up /....
In this function, the motor cannot be moved specifically in one direction, but uses the opposite command in
its own logic.
Application 4:
Automatic Manual Switching:
Select under the menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 or 2 = 6 or 7 (depending on which type of contact you use)
Switching automatic mode on/off
You can deactivate the automatic mode of the Smart programmable timer premium, for example, to prevent the roller shutter from closing when the window is open. You can also deactivate the automatic mode for all connected timers via a central switch to ensure that the roller shutters do not close automatically if you wish, for example if you have visitors and do not want to sit behind lowered roller shutters all at once.
Application 5:
Wind detection:
Select under the menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 or 2 = 8 wind
In addition, switch menu item 7 to ON and set the desired direction of travel.
If an external wind sensor and its evaluation electronics switch 230V to the selected input of the Smart
If 230V is switched to the selected input of the Smart programmable timer premium by an external wind sensor and its evaluation electronics, this is interpreted by the timer as wind and the timer moves the motor in the set direction and locks the manual and automatic operation until the 230V signal is switched off.
Application 6:
Rain detection:
Select under the menu item 9-8-6
for input 1 or 2 = 9 rain
In addition, switch menu item 8 to ON and set the desired driving direction.
If an external rain sensor and its electronic evaluation unit switch 230V to the selected input of the Smart
If 230V is switched to the selected input of the Smart programmable timer premium by an external rain sensor and its evaluation electronics, this is interpreted by the timer as rain and the timer moves the motor in the set direction and locks the automatic operation until the 230V signal is switched off. Manual operation is possible when rain is active.
